“I basked in you; I loved you, helplessly, with a boundless tongue-tied love. And death doesn't prevent me from loving you. Besides, in my opinion you aren't dead.” ― Franz Wright

Strung Out is a series of mixed-media on wood panel works where I’ve attached string to define the face. These are not literal depictions. They are character-maps of the marginalized: addicts, prisoners, people I’ve known in the system, on the streets, or inside myself. These are faces on the fringes- distorted, exaggerated, unflinching- but all the same, I prefer to think of them as actual entities who wanted to introduce themselves to me and now to you.
